Holistic Living & the Body as an Extension of the Higher Self
“The physical world, including our bodies, is a response of the observer. We create our bodies as we create our experience of our world.”
We are our bodies. And we are much more than our bodies. Our physical self is the densification of our higher selves — an extension, or manifestation of it in the material world. There is no soul in ‘the machine.’ We are the machine, and also what is driving it. This is foundational holism. And this is why it is so important to recognize and care for ourselves as singular, yet multi-faceted human beings.
Holistic health is a concept holding that all aspects of human well being — physical, emotional and mental — are seen as a whole interconnected system, with disease often as a result of imbalance. To have healthy bodies, we must strive to maintain healthy minds and souls.
“Zen says that if you drop knowledge – and within knowledge everything is included; your name, your identity, everything, because this has been given to you by others – if you drop all that has been given by others, you will have a totally different quality to your being: innocence. This will be a crucifixion of the persona, the personality, and there will be a resurrection of your innocence. You will become a child again, reborn. The innocence that comes from a deep experience of life is childlike, but not childish. The innocence of children is beautiful, but ignorant. It will be replaced by mistrust and doubt as the child grows and learns that the world can be a dangerous and threatening place. But the innocence of a life lived fully has a quality of wisdom and acceptance of the ever-changing wonder of life.” ~Osho
